As the curtains draw to a close on another spectacular event, we find ourselves overwhelmed with gratitude and admiration for each and every one of you who made our annual Valentines Ball and Awards an unforgettable celebration of talent, dedication, and unity. Your unwavering support, boundless enthusiasm, and energy illuminated the ballroom and filled our hearts with joy. From graceful Waltz to a fiery Paso, every step, twirl, and leap showcased the passion and commitment that define our beloved dance community.

The presentation of WC Regional Colours to our exceptional dancers, and the recognition of the outstanding achievements of our representatives at the Rumba in the Jungle™ and South African Championships™, served as a beautiful reminder of the remarkable talent and tenacity within our midst. Each accolade bestowed was a testament to your hard work, perseverance, and unwavering spirit.

We extend our deepest gratitude to every dancer, coach , and the WC Regional Committee who contributed to the success of the Valentines Ball and Awards. Your dedication and passion inspire us all to reach greater heights and strive for excellence in everything we do.

Let us carry the spirit of unity, celebration, and appreciation with us as we embark on the journey ahead, knowing that together, we can achievement. Heartfelt thanks to all.

Our successes are your successes and we remain committed to providing an all inclusive platform of dance and the authoritative Body of Dance recognized by the World Dance Council, World Dance Council Amateur League.

Dear Dance Community


We are absolutely delighted to socialise our Calendar of Events for 2023, jampacked with a plethora of competitions and inclusive of our mother body, the World Dance Council events.

Despite a tumultuous 2022, we are immensely pleased to have successfully hosted an all inclusive Open to the World South African Championships™ (SAODC™), Rumba in the Jungle™ (Digital and Onsite) International Festival, 4 Super Series, Cup Competitions and multiple Festivals. We proudly acknowledge the couples who were awarded South African Colours. We celebrate the success of our dancers who competed internationally and plan to extend the SA representatives for 2023. We sincerely appreciate the sponsorship from HeartSoles Foundation awarded to many dancers from across South Africa and our neighbouring countries. These achievements are the result of collaboration with our Partners and your much valued support.

We are excited to reinstate our annual events at their usual dates and are pleased to announce that we have remained consistent with dates. You are warmly invited to be part of our 2023 Dance Journey to enjoy the above mentioned benefits.

Kindly note that the full suite of WDC Title events will be updated to the Calendar as soon as they become available. We will share an official update on Rumba in the Jungle™ separately.


As a caring Foundation, it is our goal to unify Dance by creating a Fully inclusive platform that is Open to ALL Associations, ALL Dancers, ALL Dance Styles. We encourage you to renew your annual SADF membership and join our progressive Dance Association. The registration date is extended to 31 January 2023. Only members registered by the deadline are eligible to officiate the first half of the year in sanctioned events. The 2023 Tariffs and Registration forms are also accessible via the website.  Kindly contact the Director of Membership, Mr Andre Cloete for any membership queries.

Dear Dance Community

We are absolutely delighted to socialise our Calendar of Events for 2022, jampacked with a plethora of competitions and inclusive of our mother body, the World Dance Council events. Having persevered through all 4 waves of the Pandemic, we are excited to reinstate our annual events at their usual dates, as we recover our beloved Dance and Dancesport.

Building on the success of the South African Championships™ (SAODC™) in 2021, we are happy to report that all Super Series are back i.e. GP, WC and NW and we are pleased to announce that the KZN Super Series is on the Roadmap for July 2022. South African Colours will be fully reinstated, and we will clarify the criteria separately. All our Trademarked competitions i.e. SAODC™, RITJ™ and Dancesport Championships™ are on the Calendar of Events. It sure is going to be a busy year and we encourage you to plan proactively to participate in the 2022 Dance journey.

Kindly note that the events are influenced by the Covid-19 status quo, and we will keep you updated on any changes. We endeavour to continue hosting a safe dance platform with all Covid-19 protocols in place.

Dear Dance Community

We are pleased to socialise our Calendar of Events for 2021. The Calendar is conservative and considers the Covid-19 impact. We are hopeful that the imminent vaccine will expedite economic recovery and moreover the recovery of our beloved DANCE SPORT!

Building on the success of the First Online South African Open Dance Championships and all our Online events hosted in 2020, we are extending the virtual agenda for 2021. We have scheduled Online Congresses, Exams, and an Online / Onsite competition for the First half of the Year. We are optimistic for the Second half of the year and have scheduled the GP, NW Super Series and the prestigious South African Open Dance Championships onsite. These competitions will be Open to ALL sections. Kindly note that the events are influenced by the Covid-19 recovery and we will keep you updated on any changes. We endeavour to continue hosting an all inclusive, safe dance platform for 2021 that considers the status quo.

We encourage you to renew your annual SADF membership and/or join our progressive Association that provides an Open, Unified dance platform to all dancers bringing you a plethora of opportunities and world class events during Business unusual times. The registration date is extended to 31 January 2021. Members registered timeously are eligible to officiate the first half of the year in sanctioned events. The 2021 SADF Tariffs and Registration forms are also accessible via the website, and the Social registration forms are available directly from the Social Faculty. There are no increases to registration fees.

Dear Dance Community

 We are pleased to share our exciting Calendar of Events, that is jam-packed with Competitions, Workshops, Development Congresses, Professional Exams, WDC and WDC AL World Series events (refer to attached Official Calendar of Events). The Calendar of Events is a working document with the latest version available on our website. 

We are very pleased to announce we have remained consistent with the dates of the Super Series Championships, which draws top talent from ALL the Regions in South Africa and are our flag ship competitions.  The prestigious South African Open Dance Championships (SAODC), is on 5-6 December 2020 in the Gauteng Province, known for its eclectic mix of unique styles and tastes.  Gauteng has a plethora of activities and attractions meshed into a space of complete diversity.  South African Champion titles will be awarded in ALL dance styles. We have remained consistent with the scheduling of the SA Championship, which is the before the WDC AL Open to World Championships. The renowned WDC AL World Championships is scheduled for 18-21 December 2020 in Berlin, Germany.  The SADF remains the Official Member of World Dance Council (WDC) and WDC AL in South Africa, the World Controlling Body of Dance. We are very proud to announce that our Amateur representatives to the WDC AL World Championships 2019 in Dublin i.e.  Moeketsi Lichabe & Lethabo Monametsi,  Angelo Moroko & Percephone Cloete performed exceptionally well and benefited from sponsorship by our Flight Partner, Sta Travel. We acknowledge our official Professional Ten Dance couple, Isaac Moeng and Suretha Fortuin, who proudly represented SA at the WDC World Ten Dance Championships in 2019.

Kindly renew your SADF Membership to share in these benefits.  We encourage you to route queries with respect to WDC or WDC AL sanctioned events to my Office to ensure that the communication is effectively dealt with. We extend warm appreciation for your amazing support at the 2019 South African Open Dance Championships, which was hosted at the magical Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom in Kwazula Natal. We extend congratulations to all the dancers on their accomplishments at the SA Open Dance Championships. We look forward to growing our footprint in the KZN Region.  Kindly note the date and venue for the 2020 KZN Championship, in addition to the Social/Pro-Am events will be made available soonest.  

We encourage you to renew your annual SADF membership and/or join our progressive Association that provides an Open, Unified dance platform to ALL dancers bringing you a plethora of opportunities and World Class events (refer to attached Communique from Director of Membership). Members wanting to renew/obtain a WDC Competitor and Adjudicator licenses are encouraged to renew their annual licenses this week to remain in good standing as the WDC is strict with deadline date of 31 January 2020. The 2020 SADF Tariffs and Registration forms are  also accessible via the website,  and the Social registration forms are available directly from the Social Faculty.

SADF Calendar of Events 2017 is available

Dear Dancing Community On behalf of the Board Directors, allow me to extend compliments of the season to each and everyone of you and wish you a blessed year of dance. We celebrated a successful year of dance in 2016 with positive growth in genres and studios joining the SADF. This would not have been possible without your continued support and we warmly thank your involvement and being part of Our Incredible Dance Journey. We look forward to another memorable year of great dancing in the spirit of Freedom to Dance. We are extremely excited to share the exciting Calendar of Events with you, which is jam packed with exciting Competitions, Workshops, Development Congresses, Indaba’s, WDC and WDC AL World Series events. We encourage the dance community to support the WDC Series Championships and can assist with facilitating entry. We are very pleased to announce we have remained consistent with the dates of the Super Series Championships, which are now in its FIFTH year of existence. The SADF Super Series has been extremely successful drawing top talent from ALL Regions in South Africa and are qualifiers for the much sought after National Colours. The SADF National Competitive Commiitee resolved to extend National Colours to additional genres like Solo Ballroom and Latin starting 2017 and incrementally extend it to include other genres over the next few years in line with growth and development strategy. The revised Competitive Rules for 2017 will be shared in the upcoming period with genres impacted and other rule changes. Our brand has grown phenomenally in the last few years allowing us to proudly host the return of Rumba in the Jungle at the newly revamped Sun City on 3-6 August 2017. Rumba in the Jungle is an international dance production bringing together the dancer, the dance community and public into a production and elevates our core talent to the SA and international community in a positive manner. Rumba in the Jungle is OPEN to ALL dancers from ALL Associations and will be run in line with Freedom to Dance principles. We will be hosting our South African Open Dance Championships, which will be WDC AL sanctioned this year on 2-3 December at the Mmabatho Convention Centre. We have remained consistent with the date of the SA Championship which is the week before the WDC AL Open to World Championships in Paris. We have a proven track record of hosting many successful dance championships like the Leopard Challenge at the Mmabatho Convention Centre and we extremely proud to be back in the NW province. We have already renewed our WDC Annual Membership for 2017 ahead of the WDC cutoff of 31 January 2017 and are happy to report that we remain the Official Member of the World Dance Council in South Africa. The WDC is very strict with non aderence to cutoff dates and I encourage members with WDC Competitor and Adjudicator licenses to renew now to remain in good standing. To benefit from ALL of the above exciting opportunities, please ensure you are registered with the SADF. There will be wonderful opportunities that we will offer to SADF registered Amateurs, Professionals and Studios and encourage you to join our progressive Foundation which offers a plethora of opportunities to the dance community. The 2017 SADF Tariffs and Registration forms are attached and also accessable via the website, www.sadancefoundation.co.za and the Social registration forms are available directly from the Social Faculty. The SADF appreciates your support and looks forward to seeing you at the SADF events in 2017.
